I was just curious if it was possible to do a Yellow dog install without the
assistance of mac os at all? I'm attempting this on an ibook se edition.
I'm aware that I need to use yaboot in order to boot correctly because of
the "new world rom" issue, however I don't see how you're suppose to get the
yaboot files onto the first hfs partion without the assistance of mac os
being installed somewhere on the disk? Can someone point me in the right
direction here? Do I have to install the mac os in order to get these files
over? Then just delete the mac os partion and make it a linux partion?

What I've tried so far:
Partion a small (32mb) partion for yaboot using the mac os disk util.
Booting to the cdrom holding the 'C' key to boot directly using yaboot off
of the cd. Followed the directions for installing yellowdog, including the
new partions for root and swap. Everything goes through fine but obviously
after I reboot there's nothing to tell linux to boot so it hangs with a '?'
in a folder icon.

I apologize if I'm missing something easy, I'm still very new at this.

thanks
joshua

PS - The yellowdog web site states that ibook is fully supported with a
kernel update. Is this the case? Sound, modem, ethernet, 32bit color in x,
and all?
