I have a similar setup with an 8500. You can put a larger SCSI drive in
it the 8500 they were I believe scsi wide or fast-wide not sure. As
long as it is a 50 pin connection it will default to your machines
settings. I have seen some good deals on these recently at OWC ( other
world computer ). Another option is a IDE card for your empty PCI slot
and than purchase a inexpensive IDE drive. This is what I did and it is
working fine for me. I have seen post here that some of these are
difficult to ge to work however. Check www.dealmac.com and look for
something in your budget. Good luck.
