I update my kernel to 2.4.17 on a TI PowerBook G4 667. It doesn't
seem to have pcmcia support. when I do:

locate pcmcia

everything returned is for the 2.4.10-12a kerenel except
/lib/modules/2.4.17/modules/pcmcia which is an empty director. How
can I get pcmcia support now?
