Nonsense -- the people who created the YDL distribution wrote neither the
USB subsystem of the Linux kernel nor the PowerMac floppy driver(also a
part of the kernel).

If you are having problems with a USB device go to http://linux-usb.sf.net
and look at the list of supported devices. If your device is on the list
it should work (provided that you have up to date USB code, which
basically just means a recent 2.4 series kernel). If it is on the list
and it doesn't work at all, you may not have the relevant driver (kernel
module) installed, or it may not have been loaded.

Thanks for the info re the website re the list of support Linux USB
devices.

Why then does the hardware compatibility page of www.yellowdoglinux.com
show that YDL is incompatible with USB drives or floppy drives on the iMac
but that YDL is compatible with floppy drives on the PowerPC Mac?
