Actually there's no need to uninstall anything.
If you build kde from sources (you have to patch something and I'm not sure
what), you can install it right along side 1.1 and have the option to start
either one. The instructions are on the kde web site.
I actually had it up once. though right now I'm back to 1.1. only
KDE 1.1/2.0 is on my to do list ;-)
