Subject: Weird X Crash (w/mol) and mouse jitter

When switching back from a virtual terminal running MOL in full screen mode
into X (that is when changing from VT8 (mol) -> VT7 ), sometimes (around q in
every 6 changes), gdm is killed misteriously and therefore X and all
applications are killed (including mol).
The only messages I get in the log are something like this:
Jan 9 11:39:19 bigbird gdm[24191]: gdm_slave_child_handler
Jan 9 11:39:19 bigbird gdm[24191]: gdm_slave_child_handler: 24192 died
Jan 9 11:39:19 bigbird gdm[24191]: gdm_slave_child_handler: 24192 died of 6
(notice the last line, specifying gdm_slave died of 6).
Have any of you experienced something similar?
Running YDL2.1 in a TiBook, latest benh kernel (although I've had the problem
since a long time ago; and I have upgraded the kernel several times),
currently 2.4.17-ben0.
On another topic, mouse jitter after wakeup seems to be back after being
corrected in previous kernels. Any ideas?
