Hi,

This was discussed a while back:

On my 1999 Powerbook G3, the backspace key has been replaced with
delete, but only in X. To fix this, the suggestion was to put the
following line in the .Xmodmap file in the home directory:

keysym Delete = BackSpace osfBackSpace

This works fine should you start up X using startx, but it does not work
at all should you use gdm to log into X.

Is there a system wide Xmodmap file somewhere that should be configured
somewhere?

Regards,
Graham
