Subject: Beige G3/USB card problem

I have a beige G3/233 desktop to which I've added a Keyspan USB PCI card.
I installed yellowdoglinux CS 1.2, I believe, though it says i have 1.1
after the install.... I got the burned cd from a coworker...
Well, my Kensington Orbit USB/PS/2 trackball worked fine after the
install. But I just compiled a new kernel, 2.2.17pre7, and the new kernel
seems to work fine except my Orbit trackball doesn't work anymore... I
tried mouseconfig but that doesn't help. I can't use it on the consoles
nor can i use it in X. Did I miss something in the kernel building when I
did make menuconfig? I've tried searching the web for an answer but
no luck... Please help!! Thanks in advance.
