It was extreme. Nothing I could do to the file system retrieved it.

It was probably an operator problem.

Or maybe I had a hardware problem. This happened on a scsi drive attached
via an apple 2930U (adaptec) controller mounted internally, with a zip disk
mounted externally. Since I switched to an EIDE only setup, I've not had any
severe problems with corrupted file systems after a power failure, just a few
inodes with zero dtime.
