Subject: YDL2.0 CD surprise -- warning!

I bought one of the first of the YDL 2.0 supported packages. I was able to
install in a couple of machines, but had fits with all but one. I tried to
install in a 3rd and failed completely. Finally decided I had a bad CD, so
reported it and got a new copy.
Well, I thought it was a new copy, but when I installed in that 3rd machine,
a couple of things, including sound, failed on startup. I started looking,
and the problem was library dependencies.
What was the deal? Well, it turned out the kernel on the new install CD is
different than the one on the original! My original disk shipped with
2.2.19-1i, while the new one has 2.2.19-1k. Once I updated the kernel (which
was the same size to the byte and looked identical in MacOS) suddenly sound
started working, and probably some other things less obvious, too.

OK, I'll try that. Isn't pdisk partitioning software? Does that
mean that if I am to use zip disks on my linux system that they have
to be prepared (partitioned and formatted) on the linux system first?

I just copied the fstab from the previous message - my actual fstab
does say sdb1 - I was lazy when writing the email, and you caught me
