Subject: Screen Resulution in X

Going into StartX brings it up, but it changes what i guess is the screen
size resolution, and its all crap. Its way off so bad i cannot even
navigate to shut it down, and have to force a reboot. Is there a
configuration file i can adjust to change the resolution for X external of
going in X? After the fact, where can you change it, if possible, from
inside X.
