Unless I'm mistaken the keyword you are missing is +vsync (short for
vertical sync)

Edit your XF86Config file and replace "+us" with "+vsync"

I can't imagine how that got screwed up but that is definately one of your
problems. One thing that annoys me about the X Config file is that X will
refuse to start even if it finds the smallest error in the file. My personal
opinion is that it should simply reject the bogus line and try to start
anyway. But there is probably a good reason it doesn't do that.
