Dear list,

I am having trouble with sound on a G3 Lombard. I have added "alias sound dmasound" to /etc/conf.modules but the end of dmesg has:

**** demsg ****
DMA sound driver installed, using 4 buffers of 32k.
phy registers:

Sound device 6 went missing!

and trying to run something like "play test.wav" gives:

sox: Invalid audio buffer size 0

whereas trying it with esd-play gives:

**** esdplay ****
SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Audio device open for 44.1Khz, stereo, 16bit failed
Trying 44.1Khz, 8bit stereo.

Trying 8Khz, 8bit mono.
SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Sound device inadequate for Esound. Fatal.
SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT: Inappropriate ioctl for device

The install is Champion server 1.2 with no kernel modifications. Sound works fine if I reboot into MacOS.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Thank you,

Edmund.
