try passing this option to your kernel:
video=aty128fb:vmode:x:cmode:32
the x is any vmode you want, man vmode to find out
which one you want. i personally use vmode:19 which is
1280x960@75Hz
keep in mind though that some vmodes dont work and you
may have to try a few before you get one that will
work for you
