e2fsck -b 32768 /dev/hda13
Recovery was successful !
This is my /usr partition.
I'm amazed at the success because I just loaded a 325MB pile of source code onto it yesterday, then compiled and installed it. The problem occurred on the first reboot after that. That partition had at least 50,000 files created on it in the 24 hours before the crash.
Of course I can't yet say for sure that it's 100%, but it's close.
