Subject: first time installer

i just received my first copy ever of YDL champion. i am fairly new to linux on macs and need a bit of help. i am using bootx ver. 1.1.3 on a rev d imac. everything looks great during install until i get to the disk setup screen. i select disk druid and get the error:
no drives found - an error has occured - no valid devices were found on which to create new filesystems. please check your hardware for the cause of the problem.
when i select fdisk i get:
hard drives - you don't have any hard drives available! you probably forgot to configure a scsi controller.
i have followed the manual word for word continue to get the same error. i have also tried to install it on a 7600/120. same errors. what am i missing?
