Subject: usb probe?

I've searched but can't quite seem to locate a way for
me to determine which (and where) devices are located
on my usb.
specifically, I'm trying to find my usb modem so I can
make a link from /dev/usbmodem to
/dev/<where ever my modem really is>.
Is there a utility to allow me to figure the
configuration of usb, like scsiprobe for scsi's??
