Not sure about your specific error. But in general burning a CD is somewhat
of a delicate process. Exhausting the fifo, bumping the writer, etc. can
kill a burn. You might want to just try again; generally once I start a
burn I go hide in another room until it is done ;) Make sure the machine
is not under any significant load while writing the image. If you have
more than one package of media, you might want to try a disk from a
different package. If it dies in exactly the same place, there might be
a real problem. If it dies somewhere else, you might want to try a slower
speed.

Also... did you do a checksum on the image to make sure you have a clean
download?
