Subject: I am a talented developer.

In case you are not aware, XF68_FBDev needs a patch in order to run
JDK1.2x
at least on blue g3s if not others.

I'm just a guy trying to get the JDK to work. for information from the
guy who
really knows what he's doing, see:

http://khendricks.ivey.uwo.ca/linuxppc/jdk/

This clipping from the page listed above details the problem and points
to
the patch and a XF68_FBDev server that does not work on my Blue G3.

For me its rebuild time... maybe for you its include this patch when you
build the next litter... er. distribution.

" The current XF68_FBDev Xserver is inconsistent when specifying
bits-per-pixel, color depth, and color masks. This causes a problem
running JDK 1.2.X with jfc (swing) classes. A fix is available in the
form of a source code patch for XF68_FBDev and/or a precompiled
XF68_FBDev replacement (which needs a revised XF86Config file to
correctly specify color depths. See the following archive to get the
required downloads. archive "

Yellow dog's cd will probably be my next version. Right now I'm using
the June LinuxPPC 1999
