Interestingly enough- etcskel was installed, but no .bash stuff.
I wiped the entire drive, did a full install of every package- still
no .bash stuff in /etc/skel

It's YD C.S. 1.2 burned from an iso I grabbed from their site about
two weeks ago.

I get to wipe the drive again tomorrow and do it again (probably
several times)- I'll make sure to try the yup update thing I keep
hearing about, and see if its fixed in an update package.

// side note-

I'd rather be missing a few text files from /etc/skel than have a
buggered system clock with Japanese Language Package (when English
was selected) and a keytable defined in /etc/sysconfig/keyboard
making the default gui login worthless on usb macs... (happened to
me, but apparently not everyone)

Naw, I can't be too hard on LinuxPPC- I *loved* their 1999 release.
