Thanx for the list Pete. ;) Found that I was only two packages off.
Good thing I look back on the out put config puts out. Was able to look
at all the nos and start turning them into yes. I was only short
gcc-chill-2.95.3-2u
gcc-g77-2.95.3-2u. Not too shabby. ;)

Although. Nothing still compiles properly. Or seems not to. I
installed the latest build of 2.4.8 dburcaw kernel. Headers, docs,
source, the whole enchilada. and all still cruds out on me.

I installed the ncurses that comes with the distro.. and I can't "make
menuconfig" Complains about ncurses not being installed.

I go to compile ncurses
./config --with-shared
make

output;
../c++/cursesw.cc: In method `int NCursesWindow::scanw(const char *,
...)':
../c++/cursesw.cc:55: ANSI C++ forbids casting to an array type
../c++/cursesw.cc: In method `int NCursesWindow::scanw(int, int, const
char *, ...)':
../c++/cursesw.cc:77: ANSI C++ forbids casting to an array type
make[1]: *** [../obj_s/cursesw.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/murias/tar/ncurses-5.2/c++'
make: *** [all] Error 2

I have also noticed all typews of other weirdnesses also. bash_profiles
are not doing as they did before I "upgraded" to 2.0 (doesn't read/export
paths and is the same ones I was using before 'upgrade')

Kinda at a loss as to where to go from here. I have installed 3 other
distros of linux onto this machine before and never had issues like this.
 Heck, even my ANS was easier than to get fully operational than this is,
and those are a big pain in the bottom.

Ideas from here?

thanx to all that are trying to assist. ;)
Murias
