Subject: PLEASE do not send new subjects to the list using Reply to a different message

In my situation, using kmail, the right way is to use the
yellowdog-general@lists.yellowdog.com address from the address book and
create a new message and address it properly. That's what I did in this
case, so I expect this message will appear as its own thread in Kmail
Whats happening is that messages form threads in the list based on the mail
header field In-Reply-To: and not on the subject.
Here's an example:
A message with the Subject Re: compiling software comes up in Kmail in the
thread with the Subject: ?Re: CDROM: Now U see it, now U don't...
If you examine the headers for the two messages you can see why
The headers from Re: compiling software contain:
In-Reply-To: <Pine.LNX.4.33.0111291604510.28640-100000@blues.wcg.mcgill.ca>
References: <3C06BD36.14E2B8CB@smbh.smbh.univ-paris13.fr>
<Pine.LNX.4.33.0111291604510.28640-100000@blues.wcg.mcgill.ca>
While the headers for Re: CDROM: Now U see it, now U don't... contain:
Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.4.33.0111291604510.28640-100000@blues.wcg.mcgill.ca>
apparently, Subject RE: compiling software was sent to the Yellowdog List as
a reply to ?Re: CDROM: Now U see it, now U don't...
Did the sender of this message simply pick a message and reply to it as a way
to get the e-mail address correct?
I'm sending a similar message to the list as a reply to Re: compiling
software as an example of what I'm talking about.
