Had exact same issues :-)

1. set color depth to 15 in XF86Config file manually

2. Someone suggested removing pump and using dhcpd (which I haven't tried
yet) but what I do to fix ethernet is:
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 up
ifdown eth0
ifup eth0

for whatever reason this seems to fix it for me.
