Using my Command key

None of my favorite apps (nedit, pine, slrn, netscape) use the command key
for anything. I would like to change that behvior. Mostly, it seems that
they want ctrl, where I want command. It would be nice, though, if esc
and command were switched for slrn.

A few questions:

Is it possible to modify the key bindings for apps launched within a
terminal window? If so, how do I do that?

If not, can anyone recommend a good how-to for general key remapping?

Does anyone have or know of a keyboard layout file for a wallstreet pbg3
that will work with xkeycaps?

The nedit documentation mentions that I can remap keys for apps in their
own windows, (such as nedit) by doing text translations in my "x resource
file." What file is that?

(OTHER TOPIC)
Is there a better GUIftp client than gftp? gftp fails whenever I modify
files that are in a currently open gftp window.
