        Oh, I had to rerun Xconfigurator; but, when trying to do the
        test, it died. So I went and edited XF86Config by hand. One
        weird thing it did was to create a Display section with a depth
        of 15 -- yes 15, not 16.

        X would also only come up in PseudoColor, not TrueColor. I
        added:

                DefaultColorDepth 24

        to the Screen section amd:

                Visual "TrueColor"

        to the Display subsection for the 24-bit depth. It comes up in
        TrueColor now.
