Hello,

I have much improved fonts finally, but I still have one problem/mystery.

I did all as you said:
- download the fonts
- unzip them in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType
- run ttmkfdir > fonts.scale and mkfontdir in that directory
- the first fontpath entry in XF86Config-4 is "unix:/7100
- the font catalogue is updated
- I restarted the font server (I even rebooted the machine to be sure)
- in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf I changed 0=/usr/bin/X11/X to
0=/usr/bin/X11/X -dpi 96 just to be sure

The mystery now is, when I start Konqueror, go to the settings to change
the font settings, the newly installed fonts are not there ?!

There is no Areal, Verdana, Times New Roman etc. So I can't select them.

On the other hand, if I open mozilla's preferences, and try to change
the fonts there, then the areal fonts etc are available (although a bit
cryptic as eg monotype-areal-... and microsoft-impact-...).

Have I forgotten something ?
