XF86 default config comes with the keybindings "Ctrl-Alt-Keypad +" and
"Ctrl-Alt-Keypad -" to change resolutions in the current color depth. It
will only change to those resolutions that are configured at run time (eg:
if you only chose one resolution when you did the X setup, there's only
one resolution it can use.. Also, if your specified all resolutions but
some of them aren't supported by your monitor/video card combo they will
be automatically throw out.) This keybinding may be different in YDL, due
to the difference of apple keyboards and PeeCee keyboards (or it may not
even be enabled), looking in the XF86Config file should tell you want the
keybinding is and weather or not it's commented out (and therefore
disabled) or not.

Also, check the "Virtual" setting for your screen in /etc/X11/XF86Config,
this is what determines the total resolution on your screen (eg: if you
have an 800x600 monitor but want 1024x768, the X server will create a
1024x768 desktop and make your monitor a 800x600 moveable viewport to that
virtual desktop) This shoud be set to the highest resolution you'd like
to run on your machine.
