Mike,

I tried to find a reliable multi-button ADB mouse without much luck. I
bought a MacAlly mouse that didn't work. It turns out that the support in
the kernel for multi-button mice only covers certain vendors. I bought a
Kensington Orbit trackball with 2 buttons and that's OK. Buying a
Kensington product may be the low risk option.

Then I bought another Mac and tried the USB option (with a MacAlly PCI USB
card) with a Contour 3 button USB mouse. That works fine - except in
sunlight when the light shines through the translucent case and onfuses the
optics! However, the USB mouse isn't recognised at the start of the boot
sequence in MacOS - although it works fine when fully booted into MacOS.
So, I have to keep an old ADB mouse connected to adjust BootX if needed.

Hope this helps.
