I have not had any serious problems upgrading my intel linux boxes, so
I do not think that that is the issue here.

Of course you are right about that. But still, I also am a little
disappointed. It almost seems the other way around: most companies first
get out beta products for free or at low cost, and then they release the
final version to the public. Terrasoft first brings out the pay-version,
so that it then can solve the problems in the free versions?

Sure I realise that it is not this black and white as I write it here,
but I think that Terrasoft should at least have stated the problems with
YDL2 on the website.

This (release when you know there are still quite major bugs) almost
looks like a microsoftic approach to me.
